Sunday P.R.E.P – “February 7, 2016”
Sunday P.R.E.P. is a weekly tool designed to enhance our Sunday gatherings at Redemption Hill. As we individually pray, reflect, expect and pursue, God will prepare us for his great work in our worship together.
Last Sunday we considered Jesus’ words: “I am the bread of life.” (John 6:35) Would you pause and ask God to give you a hunger for Christ? Would you ask him to allow you to feast during our time of worship as we hear from his Word? As Jesus said in Matthew 4: “Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.”
As we have considered our 2020 & 2016 Vision over the past two weeks, hopefully you have been able to identify ways you desire for God to work in you and through you this year! Take a moment to reflect on those goals. Consider one action step you can take toward fulfilling those goals, even if it simply involves praying for God’s strength moving forward.
One of the encouragements we considered for 2016 is arriving to church “earlier” in 2016. Don't you love your pastors and their crazy encouragements! In order to be a welcoming and loving community, we need to arrive and expect that God will lead us into an opportunity to talk with someone new or not-so new each week. Come this Sunday in time to chat with someone before the service begins, and when you do, expect to be encourage them and be encouraged by them.
In that spirit, why don’t you pursue one conversation this week with someone new? Learn someone’s name. Learn something new about their life. The beauty of God is displayed in every person because we all bear his image. Every person is valued and unique. Let’s treat one another this way. When we do, it’s evidence of God’s Spirit flowing out of us. As we will hear about this week: If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, ‘Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.’” Now this he said about the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were to receive (John 7:37-39)
